About Ethernet Network Cables and RJ45 Connectors
Choose a network cable for your installation
Compare category, shielding and intended use before choosing. These are the most common options:
- Home or office network at 1 Gbps: Cat6 U/UTP LSZH copper cable, available in several lengths.
- 10 Gbps or environments with interference: shielded Cat6a S/FTP LSZH cable.
- Cat7-compatible equipment: grey Cat7 FTP Ethernet cable.
RJ45 Connectors
The connector has to match the cable: same category and same type of shielding. If the cable is FTP or S/FTP, the connector must also be shielded to keep the shield continuous.
- UTP Cat6 for crimping, with guide: UTP Cat6 RJ45 connectors with guide, in packs of 10 or 100 units.
- Shielded Cat6 cable: FTP Cat6 RJ45 connectors with guide.
- Shielded Cat6a and Cat7: FTP RJ45 connectors for Cat6a and Cat7.
- No crimping tool: tool-less Cat6 UTP RJ45 connector, closed by hand.
- Female, for wall sockets or patch panels: Cat6 STP RJ45 keystone module.
Making your first cable? We explain it in the guide to crimping RJ45 connectors.
Everything you need to set up, expand or repair a network: Ethernet cable, RJ45 connectors, spools, tools and network electronics. From a one-metre patch cable for your home router to the structured cabling for an entire office.
What you'll find in this collection:
- Network cable by category: Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7 and Cat8.1, in U/UTP, F/UTP and S/FTP shielded, with LSZH sheath and copper conductor.
- Coloured patch cables: grey, black, white, blue, yellow, green and orange, in standard sizes, to keep your rack organised and easy to trace.
- Outdoor and flat cable: Cat6 and Cat7 for runs between buildings, and flat Cat6a to go under carpets or doors.
- 100 m spools: rigid Cat6 FTP, Cat7 S/FTP and outdoor Cat7, for new installations.
- RJ45 connectors: with guide and tool-less, for UTP and for shielded FTP, in packs of 10 and 100 units, plus splices, couplers and keystone modules.
- Network electronics: Gigabit and PoE switches from 4 to 24 ports, RJ45 splitters and USB-C and USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapters.
- Fibre optics: SC/APC single-mode and LC/UPC duplex multi-mode OM3 patch cables, with their patch panel adapters.
What category do you need? For 1 Gbps, Cat5e or Cat6 is enough; for 10 Gbps on long runs, Cat6a or higher. And if the cable is shielded, the connectors must be shielded too. The tools to fit them are in Networking · Tools.
