Salicru SPS SAFE 3 power strip with active surge protection. It goes in front of the computer, the router or the TV and diverts to earth the voltage spike from a storm or a motor starting up before it reaches the equipment.
Protection is by MOV varistors, with maximum dissipation of 380 J, a peak current of up to 8 kA and a response time under 1 ns. A pilot light shows the protection is still in good order: it is worth glancing at now and then, because the varistor degrades with every surge and a point comes where the strip still passes current but no longer protects.
The three schuko sockets are angled so large plugs fit without covering each other, and they carry a mechanical child-protection device that only gives way if both shutters are pressed at once. The switch is illuminated and the strip can be wall mounted.
