About Network and PoE Switches
Gigabit, PoE and managed switches to extend the network, desktop, rack-mountable and industrial. A PoE switch also carries power over the same network cable, so IP cameras, WiFi access points and video door entry units work without a socket next to them.
What you'll find in this collection
- Reyee PoE and cloud: switches managed from Ruijie Cloud with no licences, from 5- and 8-port desktop units to rack-mountable models with SFP, to power IP cameras and access points.
- PoE switches for video surveillance: with 60 W Hi-PoE ports and long-range CCTV mode.
- Ubiquiti: UniFi PoE switches and injectors that fit in with the rest of the installation from the same controller.
- TP-Link Gigabit: TL-SG1005D, TL-SG1008D, TL-SG1016D and TL-SG1024D with 5, 8, 16 and 24 ports, plus the TL-SG105 in a metal case. Plug them in and they work.
- PoE injectors: to power a single device from a switch or router without PoE.
- Powerline kits: TP-Link TL-WPA4220KIT to carry the network over the electrical wiring when running cable isn't an option.
How to choose a PoE switch
- Ports: count the devices you'll connect and leave 20–30% headroom for expansion.
- Total PoE budget: the power the switch shares across all ports (60 W, 120 W, 250 W…). Add up each device's maximum consumption and keep a reserve; this is what really limits how many you can power.
- Per-port standard: PoE (802.3af) delivers up to 15.4 W, PoE+ (802.3at) up to 30 W and PoE++ (802.3bt) up to 60 or 90 W. 60 W Hi-PoE ports are for PTZ cameras, cameras with heaters or demanding access points.
- Speed: Fast Ethernet with a Gigabit uplink is enough for cameras; for WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 access points, go for Gigabit or 2.5G ports.
- Management: an unmanaged switch is plug and play. A managed one adds VLANs, QoS and diagnostics, and Reyee models are managed from the cloud with no licences.
- Uplinks and SFP: they separate traffic to the router or NVR and let you link buildings or racks over fibre.
- CCTV or Extend mode: many video surveillance models stretch the run to 250 m at 10 Mbps, enough for a distant camera.
For video surveillance, our guide on how to choose a PoE switch for IP cameras walks through the wattage calculation step by step. For cabling, use pure copper Cat6 or Cat6A network cable, and to mount it in a rack, see Rack and Accessories. WiFi access points complete the installation.
