About Fibre Optic Cables and Connectors

Everything in fibre optics for a complete installation: from the patch cord running between the PAU and the router to the armoured reel that crosses the building, with the pigtails, adapters and connectors to finish it off.

What you'll find in this collection

  • Fibre patch cords: OS2 single-mode and OM3 and OM4 multimode, simplex and duplex, with SC, LC and ST connectors in their APC and UPC combinations. In standard, armoured, super-flexible and outdoor versions.
  • Pigtails: single-mode and multimode, with SC and LC connectors, for splicing in a box or tray.
  • Adapters and couplers: SC/APC and LC, loose or in patch panel and keystone formats.
  • Pre-terminated PAU with 4 SC/APC fibres, the point where fibre enters the home.
  • Installation reels: 4, 8 and 12-fibre OM3 and OM4 cable, indoor/outdoor, LSZH, with dielectric or metallic armour and CPR classification.
  • SFP and SFP+ modules: single-mode and multimode, from 550 m to 10 km, to give switches and routers a fibre uplink.

APC or UPC, single-mode or multimode

Two decisions and it is settled. The green connector is APC, angle-polished: it is what the operators use in Spain, so if you are going from the PAU to the router, that is yours. The blue one is UPC, flat, common in data networks. They do not mix: an APC against a UPC neither seats properly nor transmits properly.

As for the fibre itself: single-mode (OS2, yellow) for long distances and for anything coming from the operator; multimode (OM3 aqua, OM4 violet) for short runs inside a building or a data centre, where the electronics work out cheaper.

For the cabinet and the trays, take a look at Rack Cabinets and Accessories; copper cable is in Network Cables.
