9 V 200 mAh rechargeable battery from GP's ReCyko range, in a single-unit blister pack. The 9 V format is the one used in smoke detectors, multimeters, guitar pedalboards and wireless microphones, devices that are left in place for months.
It is NiMH, with a nominal voltage of 8.4 V — normal for a 9 V block, which has seven cells — and supports up to 500 recharges.
What makes it suitable for a device that is rarely used is its retention: it keeps up to 80 % of its charge after twelve months in storage. An ordinary NiMH battery would be fairly flat by that point.
It is made with more than 10 % recycled material, validated under the UL ECVP 2809-2 certificate. It works from -20 to 50 °C.
