Two-conductor speaker cable of 1.5 mm² each, one red and one black so you do not lose the polarity when connecting them. The conductor is CCA, copper-clad aluminium, and the sheath is PVC. It is sold on reels of 10, 25, 50 and 100 metres.
It is worth knowing what CCA implies, because it is what sets this cable apart from a pure copper one. Aluminium is a poorer conductor: the resistance per metre is around 50 % higher than that of OFC copper of the same cross-section. In practice this means slightly less level and, above all, a lower damping factor, which is what controls the bass.
From this comes a useful rule. To keep the cable resistance from exceeding 5 % of the speaker impedance, which is the usual criterion, with an 8 ohm speaker it is best not to exceed about 11 metres per speaker with this cross-section in CCA. With a 4 ohm one, about 5 or 6 metres. The long reels make sense for splitting the cable between several speakers, not for a single 50 metre run.
This product is not approved for permanent installation in buildings: it has no reaction-to-fire classification under the EN 50575 standard of the Construction Products Regulation, so it is intended for portable speakers, temporary installations and wiring inside furniture or enclosures.
