Compact adapter with HDMI type A female on one side and DVI-D male on the other. It plugs into the DVI port of a graphics card, computer or monitor, and a standard HDMI cable connects to it.
It is passive: HDMI and DVI-D use the same digital video signal, so it converts nothing and works in both directions. DVI does not carry audio, so sound has to go over another cable. It is not suitable for DVI-A or VGA ports, which are analogue. If the HDMI port is on the device and the DVI on the cable, there is the HDMI male to DVI female adapter.
